ARRL Field Day with the Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts.

The last weekend in June once again saw Amateur Radio Operators around the country celebrating  ARRL Field Day, and once again the Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts were putting the ham in CunningHAM, TN.  Our group was once again hosted at the home of John Kee.

Our members came out with an array of RVs, Generators, Radios, Antennas, Computers and even wired and wireless networking equipment.

While most of our members got to work setting up antennas, radios and rvs, members David Abney and Eric Gregory got to work creating the network backbone which would provide wireless internet and the backbone for N3FJP’s field day contest log software which was being used by the C.O.R.E. Group for the first time this year.

It wouldn’t be field day if everything went smoothly but shortly after the 1PM local start time stations throughout the site were on the air! 20, 40,75 and 6 meters on PSK 31, Phone, CW we presented a broad range of frequencies and modes for visitors to examine and try out and made contacts.

While most of our members were operating, Ed took the opportunity show off his Antenna Launcher to our former state MARS director Chris.  Ed’s antenna will definitely reach those high limbs.  Take a look for yourself.

What better for a bunch of ham's than a bunch of BEEF.

The antenna launcher was fun GrillMaster John upped the ante that evening with an outstanding group of ribeyes that were a hit throughout the site.  One constant theme about K4ORE field days, John feeds us well.

The food was good, but this was a radio event and the Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts did more than their fair share of operating as the photos below show.

Jerry operating one of our voice stations                                Hank(N3ORX) worked alternating 6, 20 and 40 meter phone.                                Howard operating 40 psk31

Overall a great time was had by all and there are plenty more pictures of the K4ORE 2010 field day event in the images below.  Feel free to browse through them and join us next year for K4ORE Field Day.
