2002 Simulated Emergency Test

The C.O.R.E. group members provide dedicated comms support for the American Red Cross chapter of Montgomery-Stewart-Houston County. We practiced our skills in emergency communications during the 25 October 2002 Simulated Emergency Test, a multi-agency disaster drill. We provided communiactions support for Red Cross logistical and damage assesment functions , as well as assisting with the Mass Care function- providing support for the Emergency Responders at the disaster scene.

Group members training during this year’s SET were Al, KA1FFO, Terry, N5HOT, Carmen, K1MED, Rodney, KD4UEJ, Hank, N3ORX, Jack, AA4TA (SK) and Howard, K2LAW. All members received valuable training and learned a little better what to expect when working with the served agency, as well as how Amateur Radio support fits in to the picture. Failure to plan is planning to fail, so we make the most of these training opportunities. After all, you never know when you’ll actually get put to the test…
