ARRL Winter Kids Day 2010

Sunday January 3rd found the C.O.R.E group at the
Customs House Museum in Clarksville Tennessee for ARRL Kids Day. We operated as K4ORE from the Coca Cola cafe with 3 different HF stations and a VHF station. The Boy Scouts of America took the opportunity to bring out 22 scouts who completed the lions share of their Radio Merit badge and all 22 of those scouts made contacts on either HF or VHF.

In addition to the 22 scouts several other children visited ending with nearly 30 kids making contacts on one of the stations.

The location and the bands weren’t making the task easy but the Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts were up to the task showing how hams adapt and overcome when the going gets tough making sure that every kid that showed up was able to make a contact.

After the event C.O.R.E were complimented by the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, our host for the event as well as by the Boy Scouts.  Both organizations have requested that we hold events with them in the near future.
