This month CORE is changing our meeting day from the second Thursday of the month to the second Tuesday, this will be a permanent change and our meeting this month will be on Tuesday March 9 2010.
We have a special agenda planned this month. Howard Thompson (K2LAW) and Rob Devlin (N4PJX) will be presenting to the group about the Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS).
One of the most common misunderstandings about APRS is that it just transmits your location, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. APRS is a fully featured digital mode which allows two way text messaging and transmission of data quickly and reliably.
Howard and Rob will elaborate on this at our meeting on Tuesday and all Amateurs are encouraged to attend.
Again, the meeting will be on Tuesday March 10 2010 at 6:30 pm at the Park Lane Church of the Nazarene in Clarksville. Click below for a map and directions.

We’ll see you at the meeting!
Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts will be focusing on growing our skills as we enter the new year. Our January meeting was devoted to laying out the schedule of meetings for the first 1/2 of 2010.
On Thursday February 11 2010 WU5E, Jim Kennedy will take the opportunity to give a brief overview of HF operations as well as an introduction to using the ARRL’s LogBook of the World .
In March the CORE Group is going to be diving into APRS. Join us on Thursday March 11 to learn more about this fascinating digital mode.
ON Thursday April 8 N3ORX, Hank Koebler will take the opportunity to introduce amateurs to “The Magic Band”. Hank will be presenting on 6 meter operations including best times to try 6 meters, 6 meter operating practices and more.
If you do much operating through VHF or UHF repeaters and ever wanted to know more about them then May is the month for you to visit the Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts. K2LAW, Howard Thompson will be sharing information about the group about what makes repeaters tick.
In June, nearly every Amateur Radio Operator has just two words on their lips…. FIELD DAY!! Our June meeting will be dedicated to planning out our operations for ARRL Field Day 2010. Check out our operations from past years at http://k4ore.net/activities/ and visit us on Thursday June 10 2010 as we plan to do it again.
In addition to our monthly meetings the Clarksville Operating Radio Enthusiasts, in conjunction with the Customs House Museum are in the process of putting together a special event for March to be held at the Customs House Museum. Of course we’ll also be operating for Field Day 2010 in June.
We hope you’ll join us for all of our meetins and these events.
